I actually found a suitable solution, or should I say that I learned a fair bit more about how Sketchup works. Thanks Puybaret, that worked once I figured out what you meant.ġ) go to the help menu in the application and select "about"ģ) locate the library you want to remove and select the linkĤ) a standard explorer window will open, select and delete the SH3F file for the library you want to remove button shown at the bottom of Sweet Home 3D About dialog box.Įmmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D developer The latter pane is displayed by clicking on the Libraries. This folder is shown when you click on any SH3F file listed in the Furniture libraries section of the Libraries in use pane. To uninstall a SH3F file, remove it from the furniture plugin folder of Sweet Home 3D, and restart the application. I found a post here that suggested right click and remove but I don't have that option in the context menu. The problem is that I now have the item in my library that is no good and I'd like to remove it but cannot seem to find a way. So I will go back to the Sketchup version and create several separate versions in different colours then export/library/import/etc. Well that didn't work so good, just doesn't look right at all. My thinking was that with all colours removed I should be able to modify the object colour in SH3D whenever I used the object. There is only the one item but the library editor allowed me to specify the category as kitchen. I just tried removing all colours from an item in Sketchup, then exporting to dea format then created a library using the furniture library editor and imported into SH3D. I am new to SH3D and I'm still working out how to use it properly and get all the furniture I need imported. Please note that not all models can be split. If you split such compound objects, you can remove or rearrange some of these components.Īn additional option is to split all or only identical objects. For example, some models are composed of several objects (a computer, a lamp and books on the table). Models can be split only if they consist of several components. In this case, an imported object will be added as a group that includes all of the original parts. The “Split Object Instances” option can split a compound object into separate objects. And re-import only the objects you need to view from the inside with this option switched on. Our advice is to import all objects with the “Make all surfaces double-sided” option off. So, to simplify 3D models of these objects and decrease their size, faces of invisible object parts are not needed. Adding faces leads to increasing the 3D object size, which results in increasing the document size. Most of the objects can be viewed only from the outside, like a sofa or any other furniture item. The lack of these faces will make some parts of an object invisible. The app applies color and texture to these faces to make them visible.īut, if you need to look at the box from the inside as well, each of its sides should have two faces, inner and outer, to make them visible. Live Home 3D creates faces for each side. When you import a 3D model of a box and look at it from the outside, you will see one side of each surface. Make All Surfaces Double-Sided to Avoid Invisible Surfaces When applying the materials to one cube side, all sides will get the new material. If the cube is imported again with this option activated, it will have the same look, though the 3D model will differ. It is possible to change the material of any cube side. If the sides of the cube have the same material, and this option is off, all the sides have the original material. If the cube has the same material on all sides: If you switch this option on and off, the result will be the same. If the cube has different materials on each side, it has no similar materials. Below is a short explanation of how this works with the two cubes. This optimization limits application of different materials to separate model parts. Remove excessive details from the model to simplify it and increase the rendering speed.
